Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 8, 2026
This policy explains what information the Marston Foundation collects when you visit mar-ston.org or make a donation to us, how that information is used, and how to reach us about it. It applies to this website and to donations made through the giving page linked from it.
What this website collects on its own
Very little. This site is made of static pages. It has no user accounts, no login, no contact forms, and no analytics or advertising trackers. It does not set cookies of its own, and it does not build a profile of you.
Like any website, the server that hosts these pages keeps standard access logs, which typically include your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser's user-agent string. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
Donations
Donations are processed by Stripe, an outside service. The donate page carries a link, not a payment form: no Stripe code runs on this site, and nothing about your gift passes through our server. When you click through, you leave this site and enter Stripe's own secure checkout, where Stripe collects what it needs to complete your gift — typically your name, email address, billing address, gift amount, and card details.
The Marston Foundation never receives or stores your full card number. What we receive from Stripe is your name, email address, billing address, and the amount and date of your gift. We use that to issue your acknowledgment, keep the donation records the law requires us to keep, and stay in touch about the work your gift supports.
Stripe handles your information under its own privacy policy.
Third-party services our pages load
To render correctly, these pages load fonts, icons, and styles from outside providers. Because your browser fetches those files directly, those providers can see your IP address and user-agent. They are:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — typefaces
- Cloudflare cdnjs (cdnjs.cloudflare.com) — the Font Awesome icon set
We do not send them any information about you beyond what your browser sends automatically in the course of requesting a file.
Email you send us
Several pages link to info@mar-ston.org. If you write to us, we keep your message and your address so we can answer you and follow up. We do not add you to a mailing list because you wrote to us.
How we use your information
- To process your donation and send you a receipt and acknowledgment.
- To keep the donation and financial records that federal and state law require.
- To answer your questions and follow up on inquiries.
- To send occasional updates about our programs, if you have asked to receive them.
- To operate, secure, and improve this website.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share donor lists with other organizations for their own marketing.
When we share information
We share personal information only in these situations:
- With service providers who work on our behalf — our payment processor, and the vendors that host our site and email — and only with what they need to do that work.
- When the law requires it, or in response to a valid legal process.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of the Foundation, our staff, or the public.
How long we keep it
We keep donation and financial records for as long as federal and state recordkeeping and reporting rules require, and correspondence for as long as it is useful to the matter you contacted us about. After that we delete it or remove what identifies you.
Your choices
You can ask us to stop emailing you at any time and we will stop. You can also ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will honor that request except where we are legally required to keep the record — donation records tied to a charitable deduction, for example.
Write to info@mar-ston.org and we will respond.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Donations are handled by our payment processor over an encrypted connection, and payment credentials never touch our systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the revised version here and update the date at the top of the page.
